How I Make "Stupid" Look Good

The best compliment my mom (an elementary school teacher) ever received was when a student told her the following:

"Mrs. Parry, I want to be in your class next year, because you make the stupid kids smart!"

Setting aside the fact that calling anyone "stupid" is uncalled for, I love this story.

Why? First of all, it's funny.

Secondly, this anecdote epitomizes my job as a writer, editor and content strategist.

Well, kind of. (Stay with me here...)

Recognizing and promoting strengths

Me and "Mrs. Parry" (my mom), a few years back.

My mom was a really good teacher.

Why? Her talent was in identifying the strengths in each student, and finding ways to nurture and promote those strengths.

Sometimes, those students weren't even aware of what they were good at. So imagine the surge of confidence they'd feel when Mrs. Parry set them in her sights!

Similarly, I not only see what's special about my clients - but I can make others see it too.

How? Through the power of well-written, strategic content.

You're already amazing!

You are a special, sparkly unicorn. I see it in you!

Mind you, the organizations I've worked with are ALREADY amazing, smart, wonderful businesses run by amazing, smart, wonderful people. (In other words, they're not stupid at all.)

But sometimes, they don't even realize just how impressive they are until they read the content I've written about them!

That's the beauty of polished content that aptly describes who you are, what you do, your skills and expertise, and your products or services.

Good content is transformative

Never underestimate the power of words strung together into well-written sentences.

Done strategically, writing can transform a business and its people: on the outside and the inside.

And here's why: having great content not only makes my clients look good to their target audiences; it also makes my clients feel good, too.

That's pretty powerful stuff, don't you think?
