Editing and Proofreading

Does your content need a professional polish?

I edit and proofread:

Little details make all the difference in professional writing.

I offer three levels/types of review services:

Copyediting

I review and edit your content for correctness and consistency:

  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone and other mechanics of style

  • Formatting (headers, line spacing, fonts, page numbers)

  • Placement of artwork and/or tables

  • Ensuring all hyperlinks work

Substantive/structural editing

I do all the steps listed above—PLUS I look at the “big picture” to ensure the entire piece holds together. I look and edit for:

  • Content flow

  • Clarity

  • Whether certain pieces of content should be moved, expanded upon, or deleted

  • Better ways to phrase things

  • Audience appropriateness

  • Proper citations

  • Accuracy of facts

Proofreading

Proofing is done after editing and layout. Basically, it is the last step before you publish.

I check all design elements for accuracy and consistency, including:

  • Headers

  • Page numbering

  • Line spacing

  • End-of-line and word breaks

  • Cross-references

  • Placement of artwork and/or tables

“Lindsey, just wanted to say again how happy I am with your work….it is a great read [and you] even had me intrigued! I also forwarded it along to my manager and got a ‘Wow! This is great!’. So again…thanks!”
